Research Project: Petrovic Collection

In 1980 the Canada Science and Technology Museum (CSTM), formerly known as the National Museum of Science and Technology, acquired the Petrovic Collection directly from the collector himself. The collection consists of 130 metrological artefacts which are mainly rules, several compasses, plumb bobs and plumb bob levels (Terazi). The theme of the collection was to show the richness of Ottoman era measuring tools and compare it to modern day tools found in the Serbian home. This research project examined the collection’s historical and exhibition value and summarize research progress made in the past to create an up to date guide for the CSTM.
